This tutorial will focus on using fat quarters but you can make them out of any measurements of fabric that you have in your stash. This tutorial results in a doll quilt that measures about 20"x20".

Here's what SewDelish had to say about their tutorial:  I recently had a go at making a rag quilt and this is the result. A shabby chic look! It took 2 weeks to complete and I love it! You may have noticed that I used it for the backdrop when I took photos of my newly acquired Singer Puzzle Box. These quilts are an ideal project to make on an antique or vintage sewing machine as straight stitch is all you need.

Lampshade Beautification Effort Free Tutorial By Melissa of Haworth Handmade

Ever thought of decorating one of your plain lampshades? Well, if you have then you'll be happy to know that Melissa of Haworth Handmade has a wonderful tutorial on her Under Construction blog showing you how to make a beautiful lampshade.

Here's what Melissa had to say about her tutorial:  The talented and generous Missy Ballance of Mohair Circus gave me a basket full of "cutter quilt" scraps (several months ago). Even though they were already cut, I had the HARDEST time cutting them again and spent ages trying to decide on the "perfect" project. (these quilt scraps are HAND pieces and HAND quilted with the most meticulous little stitches you can imagine).

Last weekend I took the plunge and cut into several of the smallest and most worn out pieces to make over a cheap-o lamp that has been sitting, unplugged in our bedroom for MONTHS while I used an ugly, plastic clip lamp for bedtime reading.

I must say, I am pleased with the results, rustic, unfinished edges and all. Biscuit immediately declared it "pretty" so we'll call it a success.
